Second Nothing Day

Tuesday, November 9th

Might be boring for you all to read but I’m loving it.

Hubby went for his second scuba lesson with Jay from ScubaGods.

They saw a long-legged octopus whoosh away and disappear into the ocean floor.

Danimal went with our UpStairs Neighbors to the west coast of Maui.

They saw a blowhole!

Again, I was left at home (with my Rosalina Haupia ice cream) and write… didn’t get much reading done today. I guess I spent a lot of time wrestling with my current manuscript.

The big decision after everyone returned home was where to go for dinner. This year we are fortunate enough to be on the island and know about Restaurant Week in Wailea. Last year we hadn’t caught on until the last day or so. This year we intend to take advantage of the great dining out deals.

Our first choice was Ko at the Fairmont Kea Lani Resort. Normally, when we hit the Kea Lani we automatically hit Nick’s Fish Market, my favorite restaurant for the last two years.

We arrived on the resort grounds in time to hear the conch announcing sunset and saw the torch lighter make his rounds up and down the pathways setting a flame to each as he passed.

The three course pre-selection:

Kō - Plantation Inspired Cuisine - $49
Choice of: Portuguese Bean Soup or
Oishi Sushi or “Lumpia” Filipino Spring Rolls or
Chop Chop Sesame Chicken Salad

Choice of: Maui Cattle “Paniolo” Rib-Eye Steak or
Makai Catch Macadamia Nut Crust or Korean Style Spicy Chicken or
Pancit Noodles or Kō Shrimp Fried Rice

Choice of: Wailua Estate Chocolate Baked Custard or
Banana Lumpia or Portuguese Sweet Bread Pudding or
Plantation Pineapple Cake

Among the three of us we had: Appetizers: Oishi Sushi, “Lumpia” Filipino Spring Rolls and Chop Chop Sesame Chicken Salad. Entrée: Makai Catch (Opa) Macadamia Nut Crust and Pancit Noodles . Dessert: Wailua Estate Chocolate Baked Custard, Banana Lumpia, and Portuguese Sweet Bread Pudding.

It was all delicious. We would definitely return.

I have to say that we were so distracted by the awesomeness that we forgot to check out if they served grappa.
