On the Road . . . Again

Saturday, Nov 7th

Hubby and Danimal snorkeled this morning. They were about in the water for just over an hour and saw lots of fish on the outside of the reef. The most impressive thing they saw was a turtle. . .

… and the biggest Moorish Idol ever!

After snorkeling we headed to Makawao. The gray clouds were rolling in and it started to sprinkle. We turned east to go up the volcano. It was good to see that there weren’t any empty buildings, all of them were occupied by stores.

We dropped into Kamoda’s to check out their baked goods. Walked away with some creampuffs and a couple of packs of donuts on a stick.

Then we drove down Baldwin Avenue to Pa’ia. We walked up and down the streets, occasionally ducking into shops.

We ended up having lunch at Pa’ia Fish Market.

Delicious fish-of-the-day fish and chips and an Ono burger.

Back in the car to drive toward Hana. We’re looking for Ho’okipa Beach Park for windsurfers. The wind was up and the waves choppy. Lots of surfers, windsurfers, and kitesurfers in the water.

On the way home we came across Mama’s Fish House. Had to stop so Danimal could take in the view.

Just so you know it’s a 1 grappa restaurant but I know from experience it has much better food than a 1 grappa rating. I'm beginning to think the grappa ranking doesn't have much to do with the quality of the meal... but it's still fun.

Danimal ordered the grappa with his cappuccino... I'll leave it to you to decide why. It wasn't because he -wanted- to drink it. Then he allowed me to gently inhale the fumes of the grape pumice extract.
Why someone would think of tasting something that smelled so bad, I don't know. I'd think it might make a good antiseptic after a jellyfish sting or a collision with volcanic rocks on the shore.

The place was packed, and this was at 2pm, and there was a line outside in the waiting area. Don’t know if we’ll be back for dinner… but it could happen.

We went back home and laid low for a while. Yup, we were tired. Hubby and Danimal headed out to Buzz's Wharf for dinner. Which had amazing prawns. Grappa rating: unknown.

P.S. Some people moved in last night, in the middle of the night, and they weren't particularly quiet. They might have been loud enough for the neighboring buildings to hear. I'll have to give them a dose of "stink eye" when I see them.
